Dr. Bactelius Turicea
DVM, Practice Limited to Ophthalmology
Dr. Bactelius Turicea grew up in Transylvania, Romania, and received his DVM from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Cluj-Napoca. His interest in ophthalmology began during an internship at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Toulouse, France, where he spent time in the ophthalmology department. This experience inspired him to move to Canada in 2015 to pursue advanced training. In Canada, he worked as a shift leader at a critical care veterinary specialty hospital in Vancouver, completed a small animal rotating internship at the Ontario Veterinary College in 2020, and later practiced emergency medicine in Kelowna.
He further advanced his training through a specialty ophthalmology internship at the Animal Eye Center in Rocklin, California, completed in June 2021. Dr. Turicea went on to complete a three-year Comparative Ophthalmology residency at Iowa State University and is pursuing ACVO board certification, anticipated in July 2026. Outside of veterinary medicine, he is passionate about Aquascaping and enjoys hiking tall mountains.
